What Are a few Small Paint Projects That Can Give My Home a Boost?
February 3, 2021
It’s the middle of winter and we are all feeling a bit gloomy waiting for the promise of spring to arrive. If you’re looking for a project that will give you a mood boost, won’t take too much time, and will make your home look refreshed, we have some small paint project ideas for you. Small paint projects may seem like they won’t have a big impact, but the reality is they can actually transform an entire room.
There are very few home improvement projects that offer a better return on investment than a new coat of paint. It looks and smells new and clean. It can be such a positive thing for a home, that most realtors suggest painting to make an amazing impression right off the bat.
Moulding, Trim and Window Casings
If you don’t have the time or energy to paint a room (or two) in your house, but are looking for a quick way to transform a space, try painting the moulding, trim, and window casings in a specific room where wear-and-tear is obvious.
The trim and moulding around the edges of any room can take a beating from shoe scuffs, furniture, and fingerprints. These areas are generally overlooked until a room needs a fresh coat of paint, but doing these details can really make a room shine.
Choose a color that will make the room pop like Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace (OC-65) which is a true white that will contrast nicely with rooms that use a strong color palette.
Ceilings
The ceiling is sometimes called the forgotten 5th surface of a room. It is often overlooked due to the fact that it is more difficult to paint and requires some level of painting skill to get it right without making a mess.
Ceilings, however, often end up with stains and/or markings that require some clean up every few years. If your roof, walls, or siding has experienced any leaks your ceiling may be showing the signs of needing a new coat of paint.
Stairwells and Entryways
Some of the areas in your home that may see the most traffic are the stairwells and entryway areas. These places tend to have lots of fingerprints, smudges, and scuff marks on the paint and around the switch plates from overuse. Stairwells and entryways tend to be a little intimidating as they can sometimes be a little difficult to access. If you are doubting your scaffolding abilities or balance on a ladder, this would be a good time to call in the professionals who can get the job done safely, cleanly, and efficiently.
