Top Three Mistakes in Choosing Paint Colors
October 11, 2017
Robin Sharma once said, “In life there are no mistakes, just lessons.” In the painting world this is absolutely true. Have you ever made a mistake when choosing a color for the rooms in your home? Realistically, we have all visited homes where the color choices are less than ideal or don’t seem to flow quite well with the house. Thankfully, paint is not a permanent mistake. Before you make a poor color choice, let’s look at the top mistakes homeowners make when choosing interior paint colors.
Failing to Consider Décor
- Unless you are planning a complete redo of a room, whether it is a bedroom, living room, or kitchen, always consider the current décor. This doesn’t mean choose a color according to the color of your couch, but rather look at the overall color palette that is in the room and choose something that will blend, complement, or contrast with the décor already there.
Failing to Consider Light
- Each room in our house looks a little different depending upon the time of day and the amount of sunlight. Be sure to look at the color choices at several times of the day. In addition, examine how your color choices look with natural light as well as with the artificial light in the room.
Failing to Use a Large Enough Sample
- For many of us, we visit our local hardware store and choose a swatch of many colors and try to make our choice from that. We at Jerry Enos Painting suggest looking at a large sample area once you have narrowed your choices down to one or two colors. This way you can see exactly what it will look like in the room.
At Jerry Enos Painting we offer access to a color consultant who can help you avoid these three common mistakes of choosing the wrong color for your interior rooms. Call us today at 978-546-6843 or visit our website to find out more.
