Prioritize Your Home Painting
September 2, 2020
So you’ve decided to take on some home painting projects and transform the space that’s looking a little tired to one that is fresh and new! This is a great idea that can help lift your mood, add value to your home, and, if you are putting your home on the market, help your house sell fast. One major question you may have is how to determine what rooms you should prioritize and which rooms can wait to be painted.
Making the decision to paint the interior of your home is a big decision all on its own, never mind choose the color palette, and timeframe for the project. Choosing what rooms and areas take top priority should be one thing every homeowner considers when starting a painting project.
No one wants to complete a labor-intensive paint project only to have the room be one that sees little traffic when people come to visit. It’s always best to choose rooms that have the highest visual impact and see high traffic.
Entryway or Mudroom
If you are painting to achieve the highest impact, you may want to make the entryway your top priority. Not only does the first room everyone enters experience a lot of wear-and-tear, but it also may be in desperate need of a refresh.
Entryways tend to experience more dirt and grime than most rooms in the house. This is the place where family members take off their dirty shoes, fingers get smudged on the walls, and inevitably things ding and scrape up the walls more than any other room in your house.
If you are looking for the most bang for the buck, the most visible room is the one where you greet guests such as the mudroom or entryway. This may be the top priority when considering where to paint this fall.
Kitchen or Pantry
Second only to the entryway for high traffic and dirt and grime is the kitchen. Consider the amount of food drips, liquid spills, grease stains, and stovetop splashes that occur around your oven or near counters. You probably also have a fair amount of marks on your kitchen walls.
When choosing what rooms will give you the best return on investment and most transformative impact, the kitchen is top on the priority list. Remember that Jerry Enos Painting can not only take care of the walls and ceiling in your kitchen, but can also create a whole new look by painting your kitchen cabinets!
Living or Family Room
The family room tends to be the one place where family gathers for special occasions as well as simple Netflix nights. It’s important to keep the walls and furnishings in this room looking fresh and well-kept since so much time is spent in this room.
This is third on our list of rooms to prioritize for painting since it usually tends to be one of the rooms where guests gather and family members congregate. Choose a new color scheme every few years to keep this room looking sharp and “like new.”
No matter what room you choose to start your painting project, our team can help you from picking your color palette to the final clean up. Talk to our specialists at Jerry Enos Painting and check out our Facebook page for ideas and our portfolio pages.
