5 Painting Resolutions for 2023

December 7, 2022

Every year Americans and people around the globe make resolutions meant to improve their lives, from watching what they eat to exercising more and spending less. At Jerry Enos Painting, we like to have our unique resolution list each year.

As 2022 comes to a close and the calendar year turns to 2023, here are a few resolutions concerning painting and all the fun paint projects you may complete in the coming year.

#1 Resolve Not To Take Shortcuts

Shortcuts, while inherently faster and less cumbersome, can lead to painting mistakes.

For instance, never take shortcuts in cleaning the space you are about to paint. It may seem like it will cut your time in half but when you find spiderwebs in your paint or dirt that has gotten into your angled brush, you will wish you had taken the time to thoroughly clean and prep the space.

#2 Resolve To Paint Your Exterior This Year

The world has been a bit topsy-turvy the last few years with Americans holding off on home projects for fear of the pandemic or inflation.

Painting the exterior of your home will increase the curb appeal and value (not to mention the aesthetics) of your home. A professional paint project on the exterior of your home can also protect it from the elements of nature such as precipitation, storms, pests, and drastic changes in temperature.

#3 Resolve Not To Skimp on Equipment and Paint

The old adage, “You get what you pay for!” is true in many things in life…  paint quality and painting equipment included.

Investing in high-quality paint can mean a longer-lasting paint adhesion. Investing in high-quality equipment may also mean having brushes that don’t shed or rollers that don’t clump up while you are using them.

#4 Resolve to Think Outside the Box

While you may not like following the trends in painting or home decor, it is a good idea to think outside the normal HGTV “look” of a home. Do what makes you happy in decorating and painting. If there is a color you love, go for it even if you end up repainting a few years from now when you have a new passion color.

Your home does not need to look like every other home on the block. Take a chance on a color you have fallen for or a bolder choice than you would normally make. You won’t know until those samples are up on the wall.

#5 Resolve to Learn About Sheens

Not many homeowners take the sheen of the paint into account when choosing a color palette. The higher the level of gloss or shine the paint has the easier it will be to clean. The lower the luster of paint, the easier it will be to hide wall blemishes but the harder it will be to clean.

Learn more about sheens in our blogs and on our website.

We value our readers and wish you a Happy New Year!
